Division Info

Albany LL offers recreational baseball for boys and girls ages 5-12. In addition we offer a more competitive option for players ages 11-12 or who will turn 13 between 5/1/2024 and 8/31/2024. Players ages 8-12 will be asked to attend an on-field player evaluation.

The league is divided into the following divisions (all ages are as of 8/31/2024):

Minors divisions (T-Ball, Rookie, A, AA, AAA) (Ages 5-11)

Players between 5 and 9 years of age will be placed in AA, A, Rookie or T-ball based on age, player experience, player preference and evaluation by the division commissioners and the player agent.

  • T-ball is for 5-6 year-olds and 6 year-olds who are new to baseball
  • Rookie is for 6 year-olds who have played a season of T-Ball and 7 year-olds who are: (a) new to baseball; (b) requesting to play Rookie; or (c) recommended to play Rookie based on prior year league evaluations 7 year-olds who have previously played Rookie may be assigned to Rookie for a second year based on skill level or preference.
  • A ball is primarily for 7 year-olds with previous experience and 8 year-olds with limited experience
  • AA teams will be composed of players ages 8 and 9, and will be formed based on player evaluations with the aim of fostering competitive balance
  • AAA teams will be composed of players 9-11 years old. Players age 9 may request to be considered for AAA.

Majors division (Ages 10, 11, 12)

  • All 12 year-olds will be placed in the Majors division
  • Based on player evaluations, 10-11 year olds will be placed in Majors or the AAA division.

Intermediate division (13s, 12s & 11s)

For players who would like a more competitive experience on a larger diamond (70 ft. bases, 50 ft. pitching distance vs. the standard 60 ft. – 46 ft.) with leads and steals.

  • Players must be 11 or 12 years old as of August 31, 2024 or turn 13 years old between May 1st and August 31, 2024.
  • 11 and 12 year-olds will be assigned to the Intermediate division based on evaluation by the division commissioner and the player agent.

Registering for the Intermediate division does not guarantee placement in the division. Players ages 11 or 12 not selected for the Intermediate division will be offered a place in the recreational Majors division.
