Make a Difference in Your Community!

Albany Little League thrives because of dedicated volunteers who step up to support our young athletes. Whether you have a special skill, a love for baseball, or just a willingness to help, we welcome you to join our team!

Who Can Volunteer?

Anyone in the community can apply to volunteer! Our volunteers include:

✅ Parents & Guardians

✅ Grandparents & Relatives

✅ Siblings & Friends

✅ Retirees & Neighbors

✅ Anyone with a passion for youth sports!

Your time and talents can make a huge impact—from coaching and umpiring to organizing events, managing teams, and more.

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering is more than just helping out—it’s a way to:

Connect with Your Child – Share experiences, build memories, and be part of their journey.

Support Your Community – Help create a positive and fun environment for all players.

Be Part of the Game – Whether on the field or behind the scenes, your role matters.

Background Checks & Eligibility

To ensure a safe and supportive environment, all volunteers must complete a background check. In rare cases, Little League—through District Administrators and the local Board of Directors—may deny volunteer applications if past or present circumstances could negatively affect the development of young players, fellow volunteers, or Little League International.

By applying to volunteer, you authorize Albany Little League to conduct a necessary background check as part of our commitment to safety.

The many opportunities include (but are not limited to):

Managers & Coaches

Managers and coaches are the heart of our league’s volunteers. With their direct impact on players’ development and experience, they play one of the most crucial roles in shaping young athletes both on and off the field.

Assistant Coaches

In Albany Little League, team managers have the ability to choose their own assistant coaches, pending approval from the Board and division commissioners, as well as the completion of required background checks. The league does not directly accept applications for assistant coach positions—interested volunteers will be referred to the team manager.

Scorekeepers

Each team in the Intermediate, Majors, AAA, and AA divisions needs at least one volunteer scorekeeper. The scorekeeper is responsible for tracking the game’s score using the team’s scorebook or GameChanger app and, under the manager’s direction, posting scores and pitch counts after each game.

Team Parent

Most teams have a volunteer Team Parent, a role that helps keep things organized and fun for players and families. The Team Parent’s responsibilities vary based on the manager’s needs, but they often assist with team communication, organizing activities, coordinating uniforms and schedules, and ensuring a smooth experience for everyone. The manager decides whether to appoint a Team Parent and selects a volunteer for the role.

Board of Directors

The Albany Little League Board of Directors oversees the day-to-day operations of the league, ensuring everything runs smoothly within the rules, regulations, and policies of Little League. While the Board cannot alter or suspend official Little League rules, it does have flexibility in many areas to meet the needs of our local league and community.

The Board holds monthly meetings.

Concession Stand

Albany Little League relies on volunteers to help run the Concession Stand! Scheduling for concession stand shifts will be managed by our Snack Bar/Concessions Manager. Once the schedule is finalized, it will be shared with all teams, who will be responsible for providing volunteers to cover their assigned shifts. Your help is greatly appreciated in keeping this essential part of the game-day experience running smoothly!

Umpires

Albany Little League has a volunteer umpire program for all families and friends of the league that are interested in pursuing umpiring opportunities. Volunteer umpires are a vital part of Little League. Albany Little League will utilize volunteer umpires.
